ACL TV has enjoyed 49+ years of programming success on Austin PBS, making it the longest-running television music series in American history. To kick off its 50th year, and to get credit for its place within the PBS family, we sought to celebrate the series in a way only ACL TV could; by literally showcasing its success over five decades with program highlights while seamlessly integrating the Austin PBS brand.
Challenge
To bring proper brand awareness of the legacy between Austin PBS and Austin City Limits, we designed an activation that would span the duration of its 50th year and debuted it at none other than at the 2023 ACL Live Festival. This traveling cube lit up the VIP lounge space with an immersive, awe-inspiring musical reverie, featuring 49+ years worth of live streaming and a piece of the original stage against a cityscape backdrop. Attendees were invited to get their moment in the spotlight with an interactive photo booth as well as participate in a prize-winning competition geared around identifying showcased artists.
