context.
AfroTech entered Houston to “make more room” for innovation, access, and economic mobility. The audience nearly doubled, content expanded, and partners multiplied. The new canvas comprised an entire convention center and the adjacent park, demanding an integrated plan for stages, lounges, partner activations, and amenities.
With 237 speakers and 21 partner-led events, the challenge was to maintain AfroTech’s cultural heartbeat while orchestrating logistics at scale, ensuring every square foot supported learning, hiring, networking, and celebration.

the ask.
Create a cohesive, high-impact environment that translates AfroTech’s mission into a Texas-sized experience. Priorities: a campus-wide design system, intuitive wayfinding across vast distances, flexible stages for dense programming, welcoming rest and recharge zones, and partner platforms that delivered real business value. Above all, ensure access and flow so attendees could navigate, connect, and convert opportunity without friction.
the process.

solution.
Guided by AfroTech’s vibrant palette, we built a campus that merged utility and inspiration. Inside the George R. Brown Convention Center, we delivered modular stages, content lanes, lounges, and partner installations engineered for throughput and dwell. Outside at Discovery Green, we extended the energy with open-air zones, community touchpoints, and relief spaces that kept momentum high while reducing congestion. Wayfinding worked end-to-end: clear sightlines, bold markers, and consistent environmental cues turned a sprawling footprint into a legible journey. We optimized recruiting surfaces for the AfroTech Talent Infusion platform, connected brand activations to audience needs, and choreographed transitions between sessions and social moments. The result was a smarter, smoother, more intentional AfroTech where scale amplified, not diluted, soul.
