BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse was looking to launch two flavor-forward items—Hard Root Beer and the Graham Cracker S’mores Pizookie®—in a way that felt more emotional than promotional. Instead of another menu rollout, the brand wanted an experience that tapped into nostalgia, connection, and pure delight. They had a seed of an idea: a drive-in movie night. What they needed was a partner who could turn that spark into a fully realized event that delivered operational excellence and brand-building impact.
RED VELVET stepped in to elevate the vision beyond screens and snacks, crafting an atmosphere that made guests feel like they were stepping into a retro time capsule. The result: BJ’s Brews ’N’ Views, a one-night-only (twice) nostalgic escape filled with cinematic moments, sensory details, and flavor-driven fun.

BJ’s asked RED VELVET to transform a nostalgic idea into something immersive, scalable, and strategically aligned with their brand. They wanted an environment that felt personal and playful—something that would generate buzz, encourage social sharing, and reinforce BJ’s as a place where memorable moments happen. Beyond guest delight, the activation needed to be seamless: smooth parking logistics, thoughtful wayfinding, efficient check-in, and F&B experiences that highlighted their new hero menu items. The brief extended past a movie night; it required building a full concept from scratch, including creative strategy, permitting, production, staffing, and onsite execution. The challenge was to make the event feel simple and magical for guests while ensuring every operational detail was flawlessly handled behind the scenes.

RED VELVET created BJ’s Brews ’N’ Views—a retro-inspired drive-in movie experience designed to transport guests to a sweeter, simpler time. From custom car kits and roller-skating servers to photo moments featuring vintage cars and influencer pups, every touchpoint was crafted to evoke nostalgia and spark joy. In Pearland, guests cozied up with branded blankets, got airbrushed Pink Ladies and T-Bird tees, and enjoyed Grease under the stars. In Westminster, The Sandlot screening featured themed patches, checkered blankets, and a special appearance from Kevin the English Mastiff. F&B stations kept the experience effortless, with Hard Root Beer flowing and warm S’mores Pizookies stealing the show. The result: two unforgettable nights that made guests feel cared for, delighted, and eager for more.
